Academic Background: My name is Abusofian, a 24 years old, I have successfully completed my undergraduate studies in Electrical engineering (control engineering) from “Sudan University of Science and Technology”, ,Sudan, in December 2016, with second degree –division one. I was an active somehow indulgent student among others during my undergraduate studies, very often involved in many curricular and co-curricular activities. If observed by the meritorious efforts I remain very competent and I have passed all entrance tests conducted by the academic institution of my education with high achievements. I did my final year thesis project on “hand simulation control system” with the group of four members in which I was made the Group Leader.
The project main points are:
• Accidents can be occurred in chemical industries and laboratories, due to the explosions of chemical reactions. Therefore, safety should have to be secured of these industries and laboratories.
• Dismantling bombs is very dangerous and cause death. So dismantling should have to be done by using extra tools to avoid risks.
-hand simulator control system has been built, to avoid that risks by doing dangerous jobs instead of the human. Hand simulator control system has been implemented to do work with high efficiency in fields mentioned above.
-The main objectives for this project are to:
- Study and build hand simulator model to simulate the human hand by using Arduino type Mega 2560.
- Integrate the hardware and software in order to simulate the functions of a human hand.
-The main components were used to build the hand model are:
i. Gloves.
ii. Arduino type Mega 2560.
iii. Slide Linear Potentiometer.
iv. Accelerometer, Gyroscope (MPU 6050) sensor.
v. Servo Motor type Tower Pro MG996&MG995.
A data glove was constructed using a knit glove and five flex sensors (five linear slide potentiometers to act as a flex sensor were used). Elastic fabric was sewn in loops around the first and second joints of the five fingers. A larger loop of the elastic fabric was sewn around the palm above the thumb, and another piece was sewn into that loop to loop below the thumb. On the top of each of these loops, pieces of plastic (cut from Avery plastic dividers) were sewn onto the loops. For each place where the end of the sensor had to pass through that part of the finger, a second piece of plastic was attached above the sewn in one with double sided tape to create a slider. The end of the sensors with the plug was connected to the attachment point of the sensor closer to the palm, and the other end was passed through a slider which held the sensor close to the glove but allowed the sensor to slide past the joint. To sense the hinge joint of the thumb, a sensor was attached across the top of the two sensors for the knuckle joints, and the other end was connected to sense the rotation of the index finger, two plug ends of sensors were attached to a piece of the Avery plastic. One of the sensor ends was sewn to the side of the index finger closer to the thumb and the other was sewn to the outside side of the thumb.
The intelligent circuitry along with the potentiometer makes the servo to rotate according to our wishes. As we know, a small DC motor will rotate with high speed but the torque generated by its rotation will not be enough to move even a light load. This is where the gear system inside a servomechanism comes into the picture. The gear mechanism will take high input speed of the motor (fast) and at the output, we will get an output speed which is slower than original input speed but more practical and widely applicable. Say at initial position of servo motor shaft, the position of the potentiometer knob is such that there is no electrical signal generated at the output port of the potentiometer. This output port of the potentiometer is connected with one of the input terminals of the error detector amplifier. Now an electrical signal is given to another input terminal of the error detector amplifier. Now difference between these two signals, one comes from potentiometer and another comes from external source, will be amplified in the error detector amplifier and feeds the Direct Current (DC) motor. This amplified error signal acts as the input power of the DC motor and the motor starts rotating in desired direction. As the motor shaft progresses the potentiometer knob also rotates as it is coupled with motor shaft with help of gear arrangement. As the position of the potentiometer knob changes there will be an electrical signal produced at the potentiometer port. As the angular position of the potentiometer knob progresses the output or feedback signal increases. After desired angular position of motor shaft the potentiometer knob is reaches at such position the electrical signal generated in the potentiometer becomes same as of external electrical signal given to amplifier. At this condition, there will be no output signal from the amplifier to the motor input as there is no difference between external applied signal and the signal generated at potentiometer . As the input signal to the motor is nil at that position, the motor stops rotating. This is how a simple conceptual servo motor works. The system is a simulator for the human hand, so the principle is almost the same of the human hand movements. The robotic hand will move according to the movement of the person who wearied the glove. According to the move on any specific finger on the glove .the same finger on the robotic hand will move to the same position, that will be represented by transferring signals from the slide potentiometer on the glove to the arduino which convert the received signals to ranges from 0 to 17 degree, then sends it to the pin which the servos are attached at. The movement of the fingers of the robotic arm happens when the servo pulls a wire connected to the end of the glove’s finger. Summarizing all is that the hand moves exactly like the human hand (who’s wiring the glove). While working on this project I found strong motivation in myself towards graduate study and research in the area of robotics.
• After graduation I secured a job as a Maintenance Engineer in Sudanese Petroleum Corporation (SPC) in Sudan); my job’s major responsibilities include: Monitors the performance of the electrical, instrument, automation and communication systems , Responsible in Electronics Data Acquisition Systems, Calibration, Measurement ,operations, Maintenance and Installation of Field Instruments , Regular testing and evaluation of various instrumentation designs and developing, installing and maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery and processes and make sure that these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently and safely.
Here, in (SPC), I have learned, researched and practically implemented the applications of electrical automation engineering in manufacturing process along with the extensive knowledge of Electrical automation devices like digital relays, vacuum and oil circuit breakers, Programmable Logic Controllers, Programmable automation controllers , Human Machine Interface and instrumentation devices.
My interest in electrical engineering was ignited in 2010 during the third year of study of secondary school (general science) and from my current job experience, past internship and my final year project I come to know the vast practical applications of the control engineering, this caught my attention and created a thirst of knowledge in me to study my chosen course.
In addition as a student, I loved to step out of my studies by joining the men basket ball team and learning the art of Tai-chi as a form of meditation. I also took up leadership roles in small organizations on campus in order to polish my leadership skills but it is not enough that is why I am constantly seeking opportunities that will prepare me for influential leadership roles in the near future. Personally I am an adventurous person who loves visiting and fitting into new environments. I enjoy meeting new people of diverse cultures because the experiences polish my interpersonal and communication skills which I believe are the main things that contribute to my growth as a social person.
My Personality: In fact, I am socially active person with friendly nature, a good communicator indeed who is blessed with many friends. I keep a keen view to the reality of life thus approach people with positive mind and attitude and always prove to be helpful with honest efforts and true dedication. Besides that I always feel very joyous and fortunate to meet and greet people belonging to different backgrounds and cultures. As such meetings are always important because they prove to be beneficial in future also it makes things easy to cope whether one works or studies in his own country or outside the country.
Study Plan in China: I would like to apply for the Master's Degree in electrical and automation engineering because from my current job experience, past internship and my final year project I come to know the vast practical applications of the automation engineering, this caught my attention and created a thirst of knowledge in me to study my chosen course. My motto is to work in an international field related to Electrical Engineering. Therefore, I would like to gain deeper theoretical and practical knowledge in starting and managing most innovative projects. During my studies, with great hidden abilities in myself I will try to come up with the best of everything; to accompany the professors and university colleagues in carrying out research and exploring for immense exciting industrial mysteries in the field of Automation. I hope that I can gain more experience in dealing with situations, people, systems and demands which will be of a great help in my future career.
Reasons to study in China: Now the question arises, “Why China?” Reading the books, watching the news, analyzing and observing the people of China, I am really impressed by the way these individuals have proved themselves to be dedicated to their work and with true efforts they have set China as a successful example for other third world or developed countries. The fast growing economy, technological advancement and China's heavy investment in education has resulted in provision of high quality education and its universities have high reputation which makes a great aspiration to the students and professionals for the better career perspectives. Thus such kind of positivity has boosted my confidence further and I am highly satisfied with the decision I have taken. Moreover, China’s diverse cultural norms and values, the famous gentle hospitality of its people and China as a country is also iconic to me due to the friendly relations it has with Sudan. The fact that China is promoting trade and peace with Sudan makes it a comfortable destination to pursue a Masters degree in control engineering.

Reasons from F*******************
I wish to pursue Masters in Control Engineering and Control Theory, and one of the key aspect of designing and testing a control law (which is generally a primary focus of controls study) is to test it on actual practical models, and it is hard to find universities with actual facilities where one can put their theory into practice specially when it comes to Control Engineering. Since my objective is to pursue thesis in Flight Dynamics and governing Control Laws, I find that with Beihang's Aviation Labs specially Lab of Design Optimization and
Simulation of Space Vehicles, it would provide me with great many opportunities when delving into designing and testing the relevant theory.- 8 Years ago
